Porcelain.
Porcelain is a mixture of quartz, kaolin and feldspar, renowned for its excellent properties of electrical insulation, mechanical resistance and hardness. If necessary, it can be vitrified to enhance some of those properties yet further.

Industrial porcelain is used in an immense array of applications thanks to its unique features. It is utilised principally in the power sector to insulate high-voltage components and to ensure safety and reliability. Its mechanical and chemical characteristics also make it ideal for other industrial applications where high levels of resistance and hardness are required.

Properties of industrial porcelain.

• Excellent electrical insulation, even at high voltage
• High levels of mechanical resistance and hardness
• Excellent resistance to chemical agents
• Non-magnetic
• Option for external vitrification of surfaces
• Dimensional stability and resistance to wear
• High purity and consistency of materials

Which products can we manufacture?

Savar's industrial porcelain is used in the manfacture of numerous products:

• Electrical insulators
• Components for high-voltage equipment
• Bushings and beads for insulation
• Supports for electrical resistors
• Instruments and accessories for electrical engineering
• Bulb housings
• Thread guides and cable trays
• Protective covers for chemical equipment

Sectors of use.

Industrial porcelain is widely used in the electrical and electronic engineering sectors,  for high-voltage components and insulators, alongside isolating supports and components such as spark electrodes. In the chemical sector, it is used for protective coverings and for components that must be able to resist aggressive conditions. In addition, it is used in the lighting sector as supports and bulb housings.
Did you know...?

There are various types of porcelain, such as phosphate porcelain and soft-paste porcelain, that used in sanitaryware, for crockery and in the art sector. The electrotechnical porcelain produced by Savar is a hard porcelain with a high aluminium content that is fired at high temperatures to achieve the electrical, chemical and thermal properties that make it an exceptionally high-quality material for the manufacture of electrical insulators.
